Term 4 2013

Welcome back to Term 4! It was good to have most of you back today and everyone had their togs. Well done Room 3. We headed off to swimming at 9:15, nice and early and  it was lots of fun. We were put into groups and spent half an hour showing the instructors what we were able to do in the water. We came back to school tired, a little bit cold and very hungry. We got changed and sat down for some cake and warm milo.

Sunday, 1 September 2013

We had a Jump Rope for Heart day. We did lots of skipping. We were in the hall. All the juniors were skipping and the seniors were helping. We had sponsors so that we could raise money for other children. It was fun. We liked skipping and the music and we were sweaty and puffed when we were finished. By Room 3

It is hard getting everyone together for a photo, but here is most of our class so far. We will keep posting new photos when new people come into our class.

Awesome!

So we thought it was about time we got back on to our blog to celebrate the awesomeness that is Room 3. We have a lot to share but thought what better way to start than with our Samoan Haka. We absolutely love doing this and we are good at it too. Thank you to Matua Leaia (who incidentally Sani calls Michael Jackson) for teaching us! We are awesome!!!!

Harlem Loses His Crown

Harlem loses his crown.

One day, Prince Harlem woke up very late and was in a hurry to get to Merivale School. He got dressed, put on his crown, jumped on his horse Toby and rode to school. When he got to school, his friends looked at him a little bit funny and started to laugh. Wiremu went closer to Prince Harlem and asked him quietly “why do you have your sister’s crown on today?”. Prince Harlem’s cheeks went red and he took the crown off his head to have a look. “Oh man” said Harlem, “I got up late and was too busy rushing to get to school, I have put the wrong crown on today”.
“Nevermind” said Wiremu, “it still looks cool – but next time, go to bed earlier so you are not rushing in the morning”.

Lizzy Lizzy

After the lizard visited our class we thought we would name it and write about the adventures of Lizzy Lizzy, starting with how it got into our class. We will write more as part of our shared writing and add to the tab on the blog. Check under the "Lizzy Lizzy" Tab to see what is there!

Duffy Theatre!

We were very lucky today because the Duffy Theatre people came to Merivale School. The put on a show called "Duffy Loses His Words". Sonny's favourite part was when Scruffy was crying because he couldn't find his brother Duffy. Kit liked the challenge with Wortschatz, he thought it was funny when he kept saying no, no, no. Korey's favourite character was the one with the red hair who beat Wortschatz in the challenge. At the end we got to sing the Duffy Song.

More Visitors to Room 3!

We were surprised to have more visitors in Room 3 yesterday. These ones Whaea Amber was not so excited about, lucky they were in their cage and didn't get out. Hoodie (because of his colouring) and TimTam (because he likes chocolate) were visiting from Tauranga Girls College where they live. Ioapo thought their tails looked like snakes. We asked some good questions so were able to find out what they like to drink and eat and how they like to sleep.  Lucky Lizzy Lizzy was not around today, he may have got a bit of a fright seeing Hoodie and TimTam.

Someone new in our class today!

When we were in class today, we saw something walking around on the carpet. We didn't know what it was so we caught it to take a closer look. We had a lizard in our class today. We tried to find one that looked the same on the internet but we couldn't find one. So we decided to call it Lizzy Lizzy. We took it over to show Room 7 and Mrs Honey before we let it out so that it could find somewhere in the garden to hide.

Welcome Back to Term 2!

We are all excited to be back for the new term. We have lots of exciting things coming up like Matariki, our school cross country and PMP is starting again tomorrow too. We have also been talking about some of the things we would like to do in our class this term. Baking was high on the list of things to do, especially for Kaydie and Stevie-Lee so we will have to work hard so that we will can make that happen.

Our weekly visit to the School Library

On Fridays we visit the school library. On this day we all took turns sitting in the special chair, and shared what we wanted to do when we grow up! With this chair and all the new bean bags, we have plenty of places to relax and enjoy reading our books.

Meheyla the Kapa Haka Superstar!

Meheyla doesn't talk much in class, but sings her heart out throughout the day.  She let me video her singing and share it with the class.  Her smile when everyone clapped, was priceless!  Well done Meheyla, we look forward to you sharing more of your talent soon!

Room 3 is on Assembly!

About every 6 weeks, Room 3 hosts assembly. Until we become more confident standing up and talking in front of the school we decided to put together a video to help us present assembly.

Merivale visits Kulim Park

On Friday 15th February, Room 3, along with the rest of the school went to Kulim Park for a day in the sun.  We went swimming, kayaking, played sports and enjoyed a picnic together.  Here are the photos!
